Another Labour MP who was part of a Whatsapp group where a minister made racist and sexist remarks about party colleagues has been named. Andrew Gwynne, MP for Gorton and Denton, has been sacked and dismissed from the party after he joked in the group chat about an elderly constituent dying.

Comments made by Andrew Gwynne in a WhatsApp group were 'completely unacceptable' and 'deeply concerning', a minister has claimed. The MP for Gorton and Denton has been sacked as health minister by Sir Keir Starmer after reports emerged of racist, sexist and derogatory messages he sent in a group including other Labour members.

Mr Gwynne reportedly made antisemitic comments and "joked" about a pensioner constituent, saying he hoped she died before the next election. He apologised for the "badly misjudged comments".
