The Athletic's Dianna Russini recently weighed in on the upcoming contract negotiation between the San Francisco 49ers and quarterback Brock Purdy. After three seasons on a bargain rookie deal—being the last overall pick of the 2022 NFL Draft—Purdy is finally eligible for a contract extension and is expected to land a significant payday.

Brock Purdy has outplayed his rookie deal, and the 49ers may pay him $55-60 million to keep him as their franchise quarterback.

Though there have been questions regarding how much Purdy should earn, 49ers legend and Hall of Fame wide receiver Jerry Rice confidently believes that Purdy is the "guy" for the franchise, and wants his former team to get an extension done with Purdy as soon as they can.
