Sen. Jon Ossoff (Ga.) led a group of Democratic senators in writing a letter Friday to Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth against the mass detention of migrants at Guantánamo Bay, Cuba, saying it poses a threat to civil rights and military readiness.
The senators cited previous reports that alleged abuse and mistreatment of detainees in facilities operated by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), and expressed concern that those same abuses could happen to migrants at Guantanamo.
