At least five people were killed when a suicide bomber with explosives strapped to his body detonated outside a bank in northeastern Afghanistan on Tuesday, police said.

Afghan police say a suicide bomber has detonated an explosive device near a bank in northern Afghanistan, killing at least five people and wounding seven others.

Taliban government officials said a man who attempted to carry out an attack inside a ministry compound was killed by guards before he could reach his target. There was an explosion due to the incident.
