Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has won by default in a State Bar lawsuit over his attempt to overturn the 2020 presidential election results in four swing states, continuing the Republican top lawyer's winning streak in clearing his long-running legal troubles.

The State Bar of Texas is dropping efforts to discipline Republican Attorney General Ken Paxton over allegations that his failed efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election amounted to professional misconduct.

The State Bar of Texas will not mover forward with it's case against Attorney General Ken Paxton after the Texas Supreme Court ruled in favor of the assistant attorney general in a similar case last month.

At the request of the bar, the Texas Supreme Court handed down an order Wednesday that brings the bar's attempts to sanction Paxton to an end.

Paxton’s win was unsurprising after the state’s top court sided with his deputy in a similar lawsuit last month.

The Commission for Lawyer Discipline asked the Texas Supreme Court to drop its case against Ken Paxton, but the attorney general wants the court to do more than accept a nonsuit with prejudice.

The state bar had sought to sanction Paxton, which could have carried a punishment ranging from a private reprimand to disbarment.
