President Trump delayed aggressive tariffs on imports from Canada and Mexico, but people close to him warn that more duties are coming—and won’t so easily be averted.

A growing number of countries, including American allies, are striking trade deals as the Trump administration erects a higher fence around its global commerce.

U.S. President Donald Trump said on Sunday he will introduce new 25% tariffs on all steel and aluminum imports into the U.S., on top of existing metals duties, in another major escalation of his trade policy overhaul.

Trump during his first term imposed tariffs of 25% on steel and 10% on aluminum, but later granted several trading partners duty-free exemptions, including Canada, Mexico and Brazil. Mexico is a major supplier of aluminum scrap and aluminum alloy.

INDIA/BRICS NATIONS: During his campaign Trump called India a "very big abuser" on trade and vowed to use tariffs to correct trade imbalances. He has also threatened the broader BRICS group of nations with tariffs if they did not commit to not create a new currency.
