Parts of the Northeast are waking up to more than a foot of snow Sunday morning, as a fast-moving winter storm, packing snow, sleet and ice, leaves more than 15 million people from the Midwest to the Northeast under winter alerts.

Forecasters are worried that some streets and sidewalks could be turned into ice skating rinks, creating hazardous conditions for drivers and pedestrians.

Saturday saw snow across the DMV region with a mix of rain and snow expected to continue throughout Saturday, with warmer weather expected on Sunday, and back to the snow from Tuesday through Thursday.
