WASHINGTON — The Senate voted along party lines Thursday to confirm Russell Vought as the next head of the Office of Management and Budget despite fierce pushback from Democrats. Although Democrats have been divided over various Trump nominees, they unified in opposition to Vought.

Vought was one of the architects of the Heritage Foundation’s Project 2025, a conservative blueprint for Trump’s second term.

The Senate confirmed Russell Vought on Thursday night as director of the White House budget office, placing an official who has planned the fervent expansion of President Donald Trump's power in one of the most influential positions in the federal government.
