We noticed that last November, Duke Energy included a ~$6 charge for a streetlight. When we called them, they said that it's for a streetlight on our property. We don't have a streetlight on our property, so the call got escalated to someone else.

Both of these rates are cheaper than TOU on peak rates. If you can manage to use almost all of your electricity at off peak hours then you would save as off peak is 7.363 cents and super off peak is only 4.218 cents.

TOUD (Time-of-Use with Demand), with on-peak at 14.4 cents per kWh, off-peak at 6.1 cents, and a discounted rate at 4 cents.

Duke Energy no longer charges a fee to pay with a credit card
Aug 8, 2022 · Not sure when they put it in place, but it is working now. Paid my Duke bill today with no additional fee. The first screen indicates "There may be a fee", but once you click through, the fee is $0. If you're like me, the credit card rewards are a nice bonus, and passing along the fees to Duke is <chef's kiss>.
